The Cold Smoke Report

Snow forecasts for Bridger Bowl, Big Sky & Bozeman

Friday Storm Update: Trending Colder

Friday AM update: The forecast models trended a little colder overnight. Rain this morning will turn to snow in the mountains by this afternoon and in town by late afternoon or early evening. With the colder air arriving a bit earlier, totals should land toward the upper end of (or slightly above) the 2–4"+ for Bridger and 4–8"+ for Big Sky from the forecast earlier this week.

Radar this morning with airport temperatures and winds; the cold front (blue line) is moving in from the west

In Bozeman, it'll be mostly rain during the day, but by late afternoon – early evening, colder air filtering in plus heavy precipitation rates should lead to a snow changeover. Slick spots are definitely possible for the evening commute, and things could get a little dicey around Bozeman Pass and up the canyon toward Big Sky. FYI, the NWS has a Winter Weather Advisory for the Gallatin and Madison mountains from noon to midnight.
